Gloria, I thank you my faithful reader, true,
Your comments mean the world to me.
Today you doubled up, covered, two,
That pleased me even more you see.
Never, will I forget the words, ‘Hi Pop’
I hear them now and will, forever more.
They are ever etched into my brain,
Why did I not realize the love they bore.
One day perhaps I’ll write another poem,
Read it once or twice, put it aside and cry.
The words ‘Hi Pop’ put me to shame, I write
Them and read them and quit once again.
Those days ‘ago’, all I knew was ‘dad’
To be something else, I found strange.
Did he do it to, perhaps make me mad?
I gathered my thoughts and let them range.
On the last day I saw the light as he smiled at me
And said, ‘Hi Pop’. I realized, belatedly, the love,
Those two words bore. Thank you, my Son for
What you have been and what you are to me – and Mom.
God Bless! We will be together again! Mom and Pop.
