That Velvet Touch, the silent growl,
It’s five AM, she remembers well.
Last night I said do not be late, nor
Before, nay, she does not forget.
She is a Border Collie, yea, a pet.
More than that, she’s my all, I ask
Where’s my girl? She’s at my side,
For a belly rub on the floor she’ll lie.
Again, the velvet touch, she licks
My hand, a silent growl of thanks,
And she is gone to get her toy
For me to throw, she will fetch it.
Time, as it will, moves along, we
All grow older, she no less than I,
But the love we have for one another
Carries us on together to endless
Time. I’m sure her God and mine
Are one and will keep us bound
together as one forever with love.
My Duchess and me.
