The room was full and noisy too
With the sound of happiness
Folks all dressed up to the nines
I surely was impressed.
‘Twas then I heard- – a gasp,
Of surprise and wonderment
Praise of what was seen
And that noisy room was rent
Fantastic, awesome, handsome too
Oh my, did someone call my name
I gazed about me, all around, and
Thought, is someone here the same?
No one came to shake my hand,
And comment on my countenance
Nor the manner of my dress
The look I got, was of askance
That almost brought me to my knees
A lesson learned that day, could be for all
Just as, ‘thank you’ and ‘if you please’.
